It all began back in the ’90s when the two ladies were mesmerized by the magic of their grandma’s hand-crafted knits. She taught them traditional crochet and knitting techniques. So here they are two decades later slowly building their sustainable brand. They named it Yova in her honor.
We are two sisters, a designer (usually in front of the camera) and a storyteller (the one behind the camera). They believe in the power of nature. They believe they can live in a sustainable way on Earth, in relationship with Earth. Nature is both a source and an inspiration for us!

They are committed to being a zero-deforestation brand, carefully verifying all our materials only come from sustainably managed forests. FSC certification ensures that products come from responsibly managed forests that provide environmental, social and economic benefits.
Raffia is sustainable, plant-based material. It is biodegradable and recyclable, however in our products the material can be upcycled as well. The products made from raffia can compost in 6 weeks.
The waste leather is sourced from a factory that produces shoe uppers. There is a significant amount of waste in creating shoes, therefore they use those materials to create their handles.
