Jeweler goldsmith Dominykas Vakrinas graduated Vilnius Academy of Arts with the specialty of metal art. D. Vakrinas is known for the implementation of extremely technically complex jewelry and the impeccable quality of its execution. As a start-up jeweler in his work, he uses only the highest quality materials: perfectly polished, transparent diamonds, gold and platinum of various colors. Most of the jewelry that Dominykas creates are private orders, thought out to the smallest detail, implementing the most complex ideas of customers. Their unique design is created and designed in detail by the goldsmith himself. In the creative process, Dominykas always prioritizes handwork, traditional goldsmithing technologies, which he precisely combines with modern, contemporary aesthetics.
Dominykas tries to discover new materials for his work. Not long ago he began to work with zirconis. His neighbor dentist has his own laboratory and jeweler watches the process when from a brittle material like chalk, if you work it very delicately, heat it for 8 hours at a temperature of 1555 degrees, it becomes very strong. Dominykas has created many works that he donated to his city.
But when the city constructs works and objects, he is happy to participate. And it’s nice that the final product is not hidden somewhere at home, not waiting on a shelf, but introduces the story with its own unique point of view or look. He made a mini sculpture “Napoleon’s heel” and he hopes that some young person will be inspired and he will look at the history completely differently.
In addition to specialized knowledge, a person working in such a job needs many other skills, and knowledge needs to be constantly deepened – to write, communicate and invent and draw and learn the customer’s language in order to communicate with him, learn the master’s language, learn the quality of the metals and stones, evaluate the stones.
Since the jeweler works a lot with precious materials, gold, platinum, a special relationship with nature and environmental protection emerges. Dominykas Vakrinas as a start-up does not complain about the lack of work, he has students, and most importantly, new ideas.
